Cherry & Oak @ Owen Road is the brainchild of ASAP & Co and Walaku SG. Here at Cherry & Oak, we strive to be the bridge between two cultures for a unique and alleviated dining experience by combining the Western method of slow-smoking meat, and our favourite Malay dish, Nasi Lemak Bakar. And so, Cherry & Oak was formed to spread our vision, our very own take on this hybrid cuisine that we call Artisanal Wood-Smoked Cuisine.
ASAP & Co @ Far East Square is our tribute to smoking — a prehistoric method of food preparation thought to trace its origins back to the Palaeolithic era. A translation of the word “smoke” into the Malay language, “asap” reflects the way the materiality and process of smoking has infused itself into all aspects of the restaurant. The key elements of smoking paired with imported wood logs selected for their natural fragrance, we believe fire is the most natural way to elevate the flavour of our meats, which span a diverse variety ranging from award-winning breeds to underrated cuts. At ASAP & Co, fire is our ingredient — come taste the smoke.

Mondays usually represent a brand-new start of the week, a fresh start to a great week. Building on that, we wanted our café to be warm, comforting and inviting for everyone to chill and dine at. Be it their mid-day cuppa coffee, or a good steak and eggs served on our warm skillets that not just warm the food on it, but the hearts of the people enjoying the dish as well.

Located along Joo Chiat Road, Walaku is the first in Singapore to serve Nasi Lemak Shell Out. For those familiar with the concept of shell out, it means it’s served piping hot from an actual bucket. Yes, that means you get nasi lemak right out of a bucket! Walaku is a halal bistro that serves Asian-Western cuisine, ranging from Nasi Goreng Kampung to Salted Egg Pasta & Grilled Salmon. It also specializes in nasi lemak and has a mouthwatering variety of dishes, such as Nasi Lemak Bakar with Garlic Cheesy Lobster and Nasi Lemak Bakar with Ayam Goreng Rempah.
